I'm going on a 3-month adventure around Asia. Planned desinations will be (in order)

Korea
Japan
Hong Kong
Thailand stop killing each other, please!

But there are so many other places I may wind up... (hopefully not jail or dead).

I am using this space as a blog, and as a way to dump the dailies I take from my camera (Panasonic GH1 and Samsung TL320). I want those who are interested to get a daily-updated, unfiltered view of my crazy Asian adventure.

The Dread

Its got a title! Tentative, of course.

Chinese friends, are the characters correct? All I have is google translate, and 1.3 billion of you around me. If no one replies by tomorrow, I’ll just ask a stranger when I go to Starbucks. Actually, that sounds fun.

Uhh…Hong Kong is awesome. Have I mentioned that already? Lemme add to the list of reasons:

David and I went shopping for glasses today. Did you know they’re cheap here? “How cheap, you asshole?” you may be yelling at the computer screen. Well, I got 3 pairs of prescription glasses (with UV protection, scratch resistance, anti-glare), plus a pair of prescription sunglasses, for $179 USD. Yeah, that’s right. $170-fucking-9 USD. I paid $300 for my last pair of glasses from lenscrafters. That place can suck a giant egg sack for the rest of infinity as far as I am concerned. You know what? I calculated it. If you want to buy four pairs of transitions glasses from lenscrafters, it would actually be cheaper to fly to Hong Kong, chill out for four days, pay for your meals, transportation, and lodging, and then fly back.

A breakdown, shall we?

If I remember correctly, it costs about $500 (after tax) to get a pair of transitions lenses from lenscrafters. That means four pairs will cost you 4x500 = $2,000

Now lets see how much a trip to Hong Kong would be:

$876  Round-trip ticket from LAX - HKG. You will fly out tomorrow.

$200  Will buy you THREE NIGHTS in a good hotel in a good area in Hong Kong

$200  Will pay for your meals ($50/day in food). I’m living like a king on $30.

$100  Will pay for your transportation (to/from airport, train, taxi). You will never even            need this much. NEVER. A taxi half-way across the island costs $5.

$453  Will buy you FOUR PAIRS of transitions, prescription glasses. In good styles, too!

——-

$1,829

2,000 - 1,829 = $171 left in your pocket! Fuck yeah!

And actually, I could budget this entire FOUR DAY TRIP for just a hair above 1,500 (if you stay at my place <3)

Isn’t Hong Kong awesome?

Wait, do you even care about what i have to say or are you just waiting for me to finish my movie? Gah….it’s really taking a while. It’s hard to paint mood! Plus my days are very busy. This is my first attempt at something creepy, and its my first time experimenting with color grading, and soundscape. Shits takin days! I still gotta edit the last minute or so (?) of the film, but I have no idea how its going to turn out. I’m going to try some wild shit….maybe… …  don’t get your expectations too high…  what looks good in still may look like ass in motion.

Eh, I guess one more vague teaser couldn’t hurt, now could it?

Gimme a few more days to finish this bad boy. It may or may not be worth the wait, hahahaha
