I'm going on a 3-month adventure around Asia. Planned desinations will be (in order)

Korea
Japan
Hong Kong
Thailand stop killing each other, please!

But there are so many other places I may wind up... (hopefully not jail or dead).

I am using this space as a blog, and as a way to dump the dailies I take from my camera (Panasonic GH1 and Samsung TL320). I want those who are interested to get a daily-updated, unfiltered view of my crazy Asian adventure.

Post

For inspiration while I’m down,

Dan sent me this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tI4CbCniBI

I think it worked. BUILDING KICK! I’m back, baby!

Sorta.

I have 3 ideas going for this.

1) finish the damn thing with what I’ve got

2) release it in parts (there would be 3)

3) rewrite, reshoot, re-edit, redo

Number 3 has potential for badassery to the max, especially since I discovered what I call “CAMERA HEAVEN” in Tsim Sha Tsui (tons of camera stores, one next to the other, tons of old, used lenses, and an ASSLOAD of adaptors for my camera) like:

m4/3 to:

PK-mount (pentax), AI-mount (nikon), contax G, EOS-mount (canon), M, R-mount (leica, in my wettest of dreams yes!), m42 screw-mount, so many choices!!!! And each adaptor is only 500HKD, which is totally negotiable (I bet I can get em down to at least 400).  Now I just gotta decide on which lens company to go with. My parents have a PK-mount and an m42 screw-mount lens at home, so I may stick with that….

What does this mean for you? Well, fast, old glass = BADASS VIDEO STATUS! I wanna get either a 50mm f1.4, or an 85mm f-something-fast to start with. I saw a canon f0.95 there, I almost exploded in my jeans, I don’t even care what its focal length is. But that shop owner was a total douche to me, so he’s not getting my money, nuh-uh fuck that.

I’m slowly tacking some more footage on to what I currently have. Slowly, slowly. Much thanks for the comments and emails, everyone. For whatever video I make next, I won’t let anyone or anything get in my way of shooting what I want.

I kinda like the idea of releasing “The Dread” in parts, but I’d like to release them close to each other, and if I divided it into parts, I’d definitely have to go back and reshoot a buncha things. And honestly, that mountain was already a little creepy with friends around, and I’ve already created such a scary persona of that place in my mind (and hopefully on video), I’m not sure I can go back by myself! :P

So, thinking for now.

Thinking…

Goodnight!
